View Full Version : I am probably stupid but...
So..I bought some CD-RWs. I wanted to test them so I put 3 songs onto one of the dics. It worked fine, no problems there. However, I have just tried to add another song and it told me that the disc is either full or not writable. I don't use any burning software, I just drag the files I want into the CD-RW's folder and click 'write these files to CD now'. Do I need to use some sort of software to be able to add to the disc? The discs are Maxwell CD-RW 80 700MB. Thanks

CD-RWs are a little strange. Wish I could be more technical than that, but I'm constantly surprised by their unpredictable behavior.
You might need to erase the disk and add the files from scratch.

Ive never done it that way, I have always used Nero to burn files to CDs/DVDs.
Burning it like that might have closed the CD. If so then you wont be able to burn anymore songs to it. But yeah since they are CD-RWs, you should be able to erase and then burn them all over again.

thats what I was thinking as well, but I thought the Windows XP Highmat CD utility differentiated between CD-R and CD-RW, in which case it shouldn't have closed the CD...

There is (was released a while ago) an XP update for the HighMAT function. Forget where it is on Microsoft, but suggest updating computer's OS for security given that problem and how it occured.
