I need a summer job, any suggestions? Already applied for best buy, a pretzel place, aunts annes pretzel place, value city, and target. They all said "We are going to call you back in two to three days." or "We are going to call you to set up an interview" but the bastards never called!! I want any job except like burger king and stuff, I had to be increadible desperate to apply for those jobs (my brother worked there and it was hell!!). Also should I call back to demanding to get an interview because they told me so?

Not because they told you so, but yes, you should call back. Or even better, show up. If they say the manager is unavailable, offer to wait or ask when would be a better time.

Best Buy (and CompUSA, I've worked in both) receive dozens of applications a week, they don't call anyone back as far as I know, they only interview the people who sort of force them to.

Also, find out what positions the stores are hiring for, the "whatever's available" stack of applications is usually the largest and the most ignored. You can ask any employee which departments are most shorthanded. Also, make friends with the supervisor of the department you want to work in, they can give you a little momentum within the system, which is what it takes to get hired.

how about like a blockbuster or movie gallery, you can rent all the movies and games you want, not a whole lot to the job, why not give that a go?

I don't blame you for not applying at fast food, I did it once and will never do it again. Have you tried any local grocery stores? I worked at one for 3 years and loved it, mainly because of the ppl I worked with. How about a movie cinema.
