running xp program on win 98

Hi,
I have a pentium 3 computer with win 98 se.
I have a program that works only on xp.
I dont want to install dualboot only for this application.
Installing virtual pc can do the trick or do i need another solution?

virtual PC will be so slow and clunky that you would be better off dual booting...
