View Full Version : FTP help
I'm trying to FTP some files from one computer in my network to another using flashfxp. I do alot of xbox modding so I'm somewhat experienced with this program, since you have to basically ftp over everything you need to the xbox. Anyway there are some files I want to put onto my other computer using flash fxp, but I can't seem to get a connection. I know the IP address of this computer(which I'm getting the files off of), but do you need to enable something on it to allow other computers to ftp to it? Also if you need a password, and if so, how do you figure it out?
thanks

Yes u need an FTP server software running. U can either enable it by installing IIS in XP pro, or just go download Serve-U ftp server.
I would go the serv-u route personally. Its so much easier.
I downloaded serv-u and I was able to connect, but no files appear. It says connected, and the only thing listed it says is parent directory, and thats it. Do I need serv-u on both computers, or just the one that I want the files from?

Just the one u want the files from.... u have to configure per user (or group) directory permissions. Give them a home directory, which will be the dir they are in when they log in.
Are you doing this over the web or on a lan?
Its a wireless network in my house. Ive used flash fxp to ftp stuff to my xbox all the time cause i do alot of xbox modding and stuff like that.
Anyway so where do i go to enable this stuff, and what should I enable?

I dunno I dont have it in front of me as I am at work.
There is a much easier way of transferring files between lan PCs...
Go to start, run, and type: \\[computername]\c$ and that should get u access to the entire c: drive if u have xp pro.... maybe home too.
