WTB: cable router

hello people. im new to this forum. I registered for the sake of my friend. We play online games, but he can't host because he uses a cable router. He wants to know how to make direct connections by removing router but he doesnt know. i tried googling it but I can't find anything. : ( so please reply as soon as posible. : )

What brand of router? I know on my router (a linksys) you can set yourself as a "DMZ host" which basically puts your computer "outside" the network but not really.


Or, I may have misunderstood...Is it a router that is like a combined cable modem/router? Any extra info you can provide as to what exactly he has would be apprecaited.
