View Full Version : keyboard issue and windows installation

i'm here trying to help my sister reinstall windows xp, and when it gets to the agreement part, where u have to press F8 to agree, the F keys on the USB keyboard we are using would not work, and the PS/2 port it fuxored on her computer, so i can't use a PS/2 keyboard.
any other solutions guys??

Turn on legacy support in your bios.

ahh, i will see if there is such option, it's a sony computer. so....

it's a logitech usb keyboard, and it has the F lock button, have to press that before the F keys will work, so when booting, i couldn't even press F2 to enter the setup screen for the sony, damn it.

Also happens with MS keyboard. I hate that damn key.

any other suggestions guys?? cause i really need to reformat and reinstall windows on her computer, it's all bugged down with spywares and useless softwares and what not.

Any way to do the install on another machine?

what do you mean by that?? install windows on that hdd hooked up to another computer??
It's a possibility, I've done it on machines with similar hardware configurations. I don't know about if the chipsets and all are different.

yeah, but all the computer at my house have very different specs and chipsets, i will see if i can find any other way to fix this situation.

the f-lock on my keyboard (logitech) only goes off when I power off the system. If I reboot with f-lock on, it stays for the next boot. Dunno if that helps. I assume you don't have another usb keyboard in your house?
