What is the difference between Cold Cathode and LED case lighting? Thanks

a cathode is a charged electrolytic cell, the excited electrons produce light

an LED is a diode which uses a unique quirk of solid state devices to create of photons, producing light

in lamens terms (AHEM) ^ ^ ^ a cold cathode puts a very high voltage to a gas to
make it glow, LED's have some sorta powder that glows when charged with a small current and voltage. LED's a more conservative powerwise and will last almost forever. but I think cold cathodes look better. on the other hand they are starting to make leds that look as good and better than CC tubes.
