View Full Version : AWWW man... Not again!!
Well.. i have a court date set for the 24th... omg... Just because i missed school im going to court... and the sad part is im going back AGAIN! dude..
My grades were fine, everything was fine, but i missed 2 more days then i was supposed to.. so im either going to Juvi for 4 days or work crew for 6 days.. what BS... anyone have any similar experiences? is there any way out of this mess?!
I skipped nearly every "A" day during my junior year in highschool during first semester for almost 6 weeks until someone noticed they only called my parents and put me into some sot of probation were if I skipped any more they'd go further action.
Can't get away with it now though, even when my brother was in highschool they really cramped down on stupid crap. He's only two years younger and I heard they've gotten worse. Next they'll have metal detectors and crap like those "ghetto schools". To me adding to this stuff only seems to further the underlying issues. But sorry if I went a tad off topic :P I utterly despise and hate our school system.
You skipped and get caught you pay the toll, it sucks but deal with it. It was your choice.

Agreed... It was your choice to skip school... If it keeps kids in the classroom then I'm all for it... Of course since I'm a teacher I might be a bit biased on this... You knew the consequences and now you pay the penalty...

;) one of the perks of college. Get through high school and it gets better (though I do still hate going to class).
I'm not upset at the school system over my attendence. Ohh boy are there many other reasons I have pointed out time and again in many threads that had nothing to do with me doing anything wrong. I agree, I got caught simply becuase I got tired of the same crap, doesn't make it right for my to skip becuase I hated my teachers who couldn't teach "lunch" to a bunch of food addicts. But I won't get into that, I should have stated further that my "almost" rant was begun by the different forms of new punishment and policies concerning students, which are there to supposedly help and protect students but from what I have seen it only helped to fool and decieve. Some policies would cost the parents MONEY for an accident that WILL happen time to time especially for a teenager in highschool. My parents could afford it, but not some others who I went with. Forgetting an ID for example costed between $2 to $10, if you forgot it, it cost you $2 for a STICKER and if you lost it or someone stole it, $10. If you needed the lanyard for it..... $7! These were things I had when I attended. My brother told me they also forbade certain clothes, and eventually got to the point where you might as well have uniforms. Nice clothes BTW, nothing with holes. Some of you may think that's easy, but you don't live here. Many who cannot afford them HAVE to pay or else their child went home.... WTF??! They claim this is so no adult would come in un anounced and unnoticed..... yeah ok. It's bull.
To top it off, they get a certain amount of money for whatever reason, I think becuase of these resistrictions they actually get money from the government for helping the so called "problem", they build a new school. Sure we needed the extra room becuase of expansion, but we needed books that weren't from Reagans era! Instead they built a NICE school. Some of the walls were entirely transparent/translucent bricks, and I forgot the sum of money paid to the archetect, but it was insane, much less building costs and it taking 2 years longer to build than it should have.
I can go on and on about that school, the local PD and more. But I don't think it's needed.

going to court because of missed shcool days. what a load of crap. that doesnt even make sense. you must have been on some sort of parole.
dude, its not a load of crap, why the hell would I lie about this? Do I have reason for even telling you guys let alone lying to you about it? Dont be ridiculous.
Oh man... I shouldnt have even said anything... I have my reasons for "Skipping" school. I wasnt just doing it for fun. And no, i wasnt on Parole or whatever that is. Man.. stupid school system... they dont even take into consideration what you are going through in life. Bastards.

If it was that bad, why didn't you talk to your parents about it? If it'd that bad, they'd probably understand and call in sick so you can take what one of my friends calls "a mental health day."

I think by load of crap he meant it sucked. Either way, your choice, your responsibility.

dude, i know it was my choice and responsibility I dont need you telling me this. Thats like telling a convict hes a convict. THEY KNOW.
What a bunch of BS its funny how Bureaucracy works. You have some chump you dont even know deciding if you are going to school or not.
I don't think filling out your own attendance would work so well...

What kind of school was this? Public? Private? Is it a school that you (or your parents) are paying for?
If it's a public school, or you're getting some sort of voucher, you're wasting other people's money by not going to school. But it's like you said, your choice, you knew what would happen if you didn't go.
You have to go to court - explain to them why you missed school. If the judge beleives you, and you have a reason that he feels was sufficient for missing school - I would like to think that they are reasonable and would lessen your punishment

Well, if he's 18 he could. At least at most schools, I think. But what I meant was he could've gotten his parents to call in sick, if it was really that important. I think if it really was serious enough to warrant skipping school, your parents would understand. If they don't, then it probably wasn't.
I know tons of people who just call themselves in since they turned eighteen.

I did that a few times my senior year. Worked all but the last time. I never thought to argue that I was 18, though.
The sad part is, I was just calling in because I put off my homework to the last minute. Procrastination is a dirty habit.

I tried that once and about halfway through I realized I was making a big mistake. Best to mull it over for a few days rather than act in haste. :mullet:
BTW: Jengo, if you have extenuating circumstances make sure you bring it all out at the hearing. I know you mentioned not liking "some chump you dont even know deciding if you are going to school or not", but even though the court officials are strangers you have nothing to lose by laying it all out to them. (Hopefully!) You'll never see them again, so no big deal.
Good luck.
