When trying to start Outlook Express, I immediately get the error message, Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to close. I cannot open it AT ALL! I can't find this exact problem in any threads. I use Windows XP w/sp 2, OE 6.0 and Comcast. About 3 mos ago I had my HD stripped and everything reloaded. I have 2 spyware detection programs, 1 adware detection program and Norton Antivirus. How did this happen and how can I fix it? I'm told by someone who took a wild guess that one of my identities is corrupted. Any ideas?

MS has a fix for this... go to http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=816506 and read about the download to resolve the issue.. you might want to try downloading/installing it..
Cheers!

Been there. Not the same. This is for modname: Mshtml.dll and my problem is Directdb.dll. I can't find this anywhere.

Note: Moved to the Networking and Communications Forum. :)

Try going to Control Panel>>Add or Remove Programs, then click the Add/Remove Windows Components button. Try removing it then installing it again.
Can you describe how the problem started? Was it after you changed anything else in the computer? Is your Windows Update stuff up to date? If not, you could try that. If there is a messed up file on which OE is dependent, you might get lucky and have a hotfix replace it for you.
Good luck. :)

I'm kind of afraid to remove the program. I don't want to lose all my folders and settings. Is there a way to back that stuff up before I do this? I'm kinda dumb about this stuff.
Everything I have is up to date. Had my HD stripped about 3 mos ago and all programs reloaded. I don't think there's been any new updates since then.
