Ad-Aware ver 1.6 Hangs

I have just loaded Ad-Aware version 1.6 on my pc. I ran a full system scan, after scanning 161,000+ objects, the system hangs. It says its performing conditional scans and shows busy but nothing is happening.

I also had this happen on ver 1.5. I can run a "smart" system scan but not a complete scan. Can you advise what to do?

Run the scan in Safe Mode.

Ok, i tried re-running in Safe Mode and it gets to 155,000 objects and hangs. It says its performing conditional scans. Its shows Busy, but isn't doing anything. There are only 10 processing running and CPU utilization is 98/99% idle. Thoughts?

Instead of scanning everything at once let's do it a bit at a time.

Open Adaware.
Click the Start button.
Select Use custom scanning options
Click Customize.
Click Select drives & folders to scan
Place only a checkmark in the Windows folder.
Click Proceed -> Proceed -> Next


If it scans to completion follow the same steps with your Program Files folder next and then the rest of them.
