Can anyone help ?

I have installed SP2 on my Win Xp laptop, but the radio buttons to activate/disable are greyed out.

This may be due to group policies but i cannot find any policies that would disable this.

Attached is a screen shot of the firewall dialog box.

Any ideas

Make sure that this service

Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)

is not disabled, then give it another try. :)

Was this laptop already activated with XP? If so, you do not need to activate it again.

Um, XP's Firewall does not need to be activated again when off????

Disregard my above, I misread that to be "cannot activate Windows" when I scanned the thread a little too quickly....

Hi westyuk,
I have the same problem. Did the Service activation help?

If you're referring to my suggestion in Post #2, the best way to find out is to try it. :)

I tried it but it didn't help. The Radiobuttons are still disabled.

See if any of this (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892350) helps. Even if you haven't run Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware you might still have the LSP problem the article refers to. :)

For those of you that are part of a domain, most Active Directories automaticly disable the Windows Firewall and do not allow users to activate it...

I wouldn't being sad over the Windows SP2 firewall at all.
It will not block outgoing traffic, preventing trojans and other things to get outpost passport.
Nice try Microsoft but it's not good enough, do better next time ....

Install a Firewall like the outpost, which you can download for free for one month.
