View Full Version : More Half-Life?

Does anyone know any news about Half-Life 2 Expansions that would give more single-player content... I've pretty much exhausted the Single-player mode in HL2, but I still want to play...

Are there gonna be several points of view for the story, like last time?

Aftermath... (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=58579)

The focus for Aftermath appears to break with the Half-Life tradition of presenting the storyline from the viewpoint of other key characters in the game, with the mooted Alyx-based episode apparently not happening as many of us imagined it might. Instead, it would appear that as a compromise, Alyx figures as a much more active partner of Gordon Freeman's adventures.

Wasn't Half-Life 1 remade in the HL2 Engine? That would be interesting to replay..

yeah, you get HL1:Source when you buy HL2

Is that "You get the game HL1:Source" when you buy the game, or "You get to download HL1:Source through steam" when you buy the game?

The only time I should ever be forced to download is patches, not damn games themselves =/

Games download extremely fast through Steam though.

I got the game via the voucher. I downloaded it...very fast. I prefer this method of content delivery - no CD to get scratched (this happens to so many of my cds) or lose.

I don't know if it comes on the CD - I never got one.

You have to buy one of the upgraded packages to download HL:Source, though... you just get HL1 on the old engine by default.

Whoops, yeah - after checking what came with the voucher (bronze package - what you get in stores), you do need to buy the "silver" version to get HL:Source.

Have you tried the Half Life 2 Substance mod? All maps in the game have supposedly been reworked, and have added content. I started it, and it is a bit different. More striders etc. Great way to kill some time.

It's an area that has been added to show that new lighting technique that wasn't in the game originally...

Umm, you mean Lost Coast, Magic...

And it's only an HDR lighting thing, with a little bit of story element thrown in. It's not going to be very long.

That Black Mesa:Source is what HL1:Source should have been. Lost Coast is supposed to be more aesthetically pleasing, and with HDRi it better be. It's hard to screw that up.

ya coast, i was vaguely remembering reading something about it when it was in production

However they release it, it will be all eye-candy essentially. Don't expect them to release any spectacular game for free.

Where do you get Black Mesa:Source? Is that a user mod or an official product?

GrayFox

User mod and its not finished yet.

There's also an Opposing Force: Source being worked on as a user mod.

I think I'll play both of them when they're finished.

Sweet thanks for that. I thought it completely BS they were trying to resell half life 1 as half life source. I wanted it free.

Have you gone through this yet? How is it? Is it as exciting as Half Life 2? I never actually played HL1 much.

Yeah I like this mod too - it gewts rather wicked and nice to see HL 1 critters popping up - much darker feel to the story as well as there is fighting pretty much everywhere

Hl1 was an amasing game :)

Also blueshift is getting ported to source.
