Justin

Remember him? He was a highly active folder, a very active forum member, and also very active at my other site (newbuddhist)

I have two email addresses for him: One, at excite, and the other at a non-existant domain. I emailed him over a month ago at the excite address and never got a response.

He was extremely active at my other site and then just disappeared. I am frankly worried about him.

Does anybody here have any sort of relationship with the guy? Ever chatted with him, etc? His full name is Justin McNichol, and if I remember it right, he lived in the Atlanta, GA area. I did a whitepages search and came up with a Justin McNichol in Stockbridge, GA with no address. Is anybody familiar with that area? Is it a suburb of atlanta?

He turned in a lone WU a couple weeks ago. (http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=97081) I know that doesn't mean much, since it could have been on a machine not under his direct care.

I hope he's alright... :(

BTW: He was the inspiration for the beloved Folding pickle. As in "Justin McNichol wins the HalfCog Pickle". I just kept on using it after that.

Yeah too bad WUs are not very good indicators of people's situations.

Sorry, not heard anything from him.

I posted this originally in the staff forum, but I'd like to cast a wider net, as it were.

Why don't you call the number you found online?

I did call it. Left a message today. It's always so weird leaving messages like that....

"Hi, this is such-and-such, if you know who I am then I got the right number, if you have no idea what i'm talking about, then this is the wrong number and please ignore this message" etc.... :wtf:

Why not say, "If I've reached the wrong person, please call me and let me know"? Or something to that effect.

Is there any reason to believe that something might be wrong, or did he just stop posting? If the latter is the case, I'd think that maybe he just stopped being interested in forums? Then again, if your intuition is making you worried, that's good enough reason to believe something might be wrong.

He was sufficiently involved to make me think that he didn't just "up and leave" or /quit - there was nothing in his post history on either site to indicate any sort of problems with the site or with a person. :(

I'm here! Sorry to worry anyone, I'm fine. I recently started a new job that has left me litterally zero time for being here on the site. My PC is currently a wreck, barely functioning, as I have not been able to find the time to maintain it. I usually leave folding on but I think that I have a connection flaw that craps the WU out before it gets done or something. The little time that I do have I am usually spending with my wife and son, who I get to see for about an hour a day. You know, sometimes you think that a job or situation will make your life better but at what cost. I never see my family, my (only) friends (you guys) thought something had happened to me, and I have nothing else going for me but driving to and from work and being at work. that seems to be all that I am now... /end rant

Anyway, I am alive and well, and as soon as all this work that I am doing pays off, the WUs and my witty input will return to these pages that we like to call home.

BTW, thanks for the concern, it really means a lot to know that my presence is missed. Thank you for that.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to figure out what a half-cog pickle is...

Your dad looks like that? :wtf:

Man, i'm so glad you're alright. I was genuinely worried :mullet:

Sounds like your job isn't healthy, man. If I remember correctly, you used to love what you did for a living. Do you at least do the same thing still?

Yeah. I am just doing a VERY high volume of it at the moment. It is actually a very good job but I am giving up a lot in return. I love what I do and the purpose that it serves, but I just don't have that all elusive balance. It will come with time though...It's just good to know that I am missed.

I can't believe that I am going to grow up to be a pickle...
