According to Reuters news (http://today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=technologyNews&storyID=2005-08-19T001857Z_01_HO901147_RTRIDST_0_TECH-TELECOMS-INTEL-WIRELESS-DC.XML), Intel is engaging in talks with many city governments to eventually expand the reach of its WiMax project to 100 cities within 18 months.
Intel expects to build on its success in single-handedly popularizing the use of Wi-Fi. Since 2003, the company has heavily promoted the concept, working with companies building Wi-Fi network in cafes and incorporating the technology directly into most laptop computer chips.
