The world's first interactive 3D display has been developed by IO2 Technology (http://www.io2technology.com).

HelioDisplay creates 3D displays in the air using lasers, drawing input from computers, TVs and DVDs. It also allows interactive applications to be controlled by a finger, instead of a mouse.

hmmm... that pic is a little blurry.

I wanna see some hi res pics of this thing and maybe a video of it running.

But do we really need a 3d display?

i can handle the women, but i fail to see what advantage a 3d diplay would have except in games and movies.

as far as a word processor...i dont think i want it in 3d, might mess me up a little.

I still wanna see better pics of this thing.

I can see it more for kiosks, or advertisements. Remember "Back to the Future"? Those big billboards that were holograms instead of actual billboards? Pretty sweet.

But I can see a whole new form of entertainment with this, just as checkers similar to "Star Wars: A New Hope" or sitting around the holotable seeing the Ultimate Fighter Championships as if you were there in God mode or something over seeing the whole ordeal take place. Not to mention in the 31st century watching Battlemechs rip eachother apart while your in Valhalla drinking PPC's and meeting actual Mechwarriors from around the Innersphere :D

I don't ever want to drink a PPC. :(

Just what I need - advertisements that are harder to ignore.

They'll be there whether you like it or not, they might as well have a cool factor. The first company to start marketing with holographic billboards on a widespread basis could very easily gain lots of market share just becuase of the cool factor.

Unless all their potential buyers veer of the interstate while paying too much attention to the billboard :D

They just installed some LCD billboards right off I-90 here in the Cleveland area. The first time I saw one I nearly hit a light pole...
