geforce fx 5200 problem ****!!!

I have the same nvidia geforce fx 5200 128 mb card.
When I run games like max payne and true crime and many more, the sound is very scratchy and irritating. but sound outside the game is alright.
I use win xp sp2
RAM: 256
PROCESSOR: INTEL 2.26 GHz

Your graphics card shouldn't be causing a sound problem. Do you have the latest version of DirectX and the lastest release of sound card drivers from the manufacturer?

What motherboard and psu ?.


Bad onboard sound can cause this so can a psu with fluxuating rails.

edit: Also get the latest sound card drivers.

I have a VIA board with AC 97 Vinyl sound card.
I updated this sound card from 5.30 to 6
But no progress.
The graphics card is not damaged since I have tested with other motherboards and it has worked pretty well.
It is happening with me only.
Please help.

When I take the graphic card out, then the sound plays very well again.
