hurricane Isabel kicked my ass, and some how somthing in my comp got fried and i can smell it. my comp restarts some times randomly and says the keyboard isnt there when it is, the cable modem randomly resets its self, but the comp it actually acting normaly other than those 2 factors, but i can smell somthing got burnt,

sound works, vid card acts normaly, nic i suppose even though the modem restarts randomly, any 1 got anything?

i think its the mobo myself

I´m guessing the psu got a powershock since you can smell it.

What do the voltagelines say in bios?

Maybe you SHOULD thank the storm - do you have homeowner's insurance or hurricane insurance? Can you claim it?

Is your computer on a good aka: $50+ surge supressor? If not I'd chalk it up to a dead PSU, as it sounds like the 5V line is fluctuating below spec values (keyboards use the 5V rail).

If your cable modem resets itself (I'm assuming it's external) it could either have been zapped,, or the cable company is having issues (happens alot to me, too).


Oh, and there is also the "reformat, and reinstall" ;)
