I rarely use ebay but I had a ipod shuffle (512Mb) sitting unopened in a box as a free gift for signing back up with my cable T.V company when I moved house.

Now I hate ipods more than I hate ebay so thought I'd throw it on to sell and get some beer money.

The RRP in Australia for this model ipod is $149.00
The winning bidder payed me $145.00 for the ipod and $10.00 psotage (it cost me $6.70 to post it to them in the end)

Why on earth would anyone pay $4.00 less than retail yet $10.00 to post it when they could walk into almost any place and never pay the RRP anyway?

Oh well, my gain - I am off to buy alot of beer

It's common on eBay for bidders to ultimately pay more than the item is worth... I don't question it, I just enjoy it. :)

I wish I could say, I've enjoyed that experience. My sales are usually kind-of obscure, so I only end up with one bidder, and it goes for the starting bid :(

I used to collect DBZ trading cards. I got a whole set together (every card in the line) just out of my duplicates at one point, so I put it on Ebay. The bidding got up to $150, and I was very excited, but then they guy didn't pay :(... So, I listed it again, and only one person bid, so it sold for only $5 :bawling:

haha lots of ebay users just bid and bid without checking on retail prices. I think some people are really addicted to it. I sort of am, but not to the point that I bid and pay more than the item is worth.

I never bid on anything with a reserve price. When I list stuff I make the opening bid equal to the very min I would take for the item.

Me too, but it still bites that I only got $5 for the item, when I thought that I was getting so much more...

You think that's bad, wait until you get married. :vimp:

/me truly does have sympathy for your situation. :(

yes I hatteee people that put reserves on items.. thats the stupidest part about eBay. I do the same thing - start it at the minimum price I want! Makes perfect sense.
