Hey, my phone contract is up which means i can buy a new phone now without paying crazy prices :D

Ok i have verizon wireless, and here are a few of the phones that i cant decide between. you guys help me pick ;)

Phone #1 Samsung SCH-a950
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=1980

Phone #2 LG VX8100
http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=phoneFirst&action=viewPhoneDetail&selectedPhoneId=1820

Phone #3 Motorola E815

I'm kinda leaning towards the samsung just because its the newest, but im not so wild about the red on it, although there will eventually be some replacement faceplates. which one do you guys like hte most?

I don't know about this current generation of flip phones from LG and Samsung, but the last revision was pretty awful (bad reception, low reliability, etc.) I say go Moto

my dad has a motorola and he hates it. he says he is constantly dropping calls and getting bad service, but then again his phone was like 2 years old. I'm going to the verizon store tonight to check all of them out.

I'd say...Go with a motorola razor and none of those.

Razer is a terrible phone, drop it once and its toast. Check out review around the web, most agree.

Umm you guys are all wrong, the folks at motorola are too "1337" to spell it Razor, so they spell it Razr. http://onlinestorez.cingular.com/cell-phone-service/cell-phones/phonedetails.jsp?id=cdsku9870005 ;D

anyway i would get it, but verizon doesnt offer it. My friend has it and i love it. My parents are paying the bills for it, so as long as i get a phone im happy.

Ok but of the 3 phones ive selected, which one. please vote, I dont know much about phones and i guarentee you guys know more.

When I destroyed my last phone a little over a year ago I got an LG and hated it. So I gave it to my wife and got a Moto that has been beaten severly, including being dropped several times including a fall of about 7 feet. It is so scratched up with no paint left at all but still works perfectly. Meanwhile my wife broke the hinge on her LG and got it replaced then broke the hinge on new phone. She now has a Moto and likes it much better.

My boss has the RAZR after owning a Motorola V710. He says he'd rather have his much heavier V710 back. The RAZR looks good but it's a piece of crap.

Go with either of the other two. LG and Samsung make excellent phones.

Verizon doesnt offer the razr with their service, otherwise I would get it. My friend has the black one and i love it. too bad i cant get it.

I just bought the Samsung SCH-a950, AKA Phone #1 and I love it. The red doesnt bother me, but the cool thing is I get free Vcast for the first month. Its basically news clips/other small videos if you guys havent seen it. I'm amazed at the quality of the video. I thought it was going to be complete crap, but its very clear, and almost as good as tv. I have great reception, and full bars. I give this phone a 10/10 for all of the awsome features it has, and the great reception. If anyone else is looking into getting a new phone, you should check this one out.

LG is a very good brand. I have the LGVX8100 now, and I'm happy with it. The menus are very clear and easy to navigate. The phone book system is the best I've ever used.

It also comes with the free month of Vcast, and looks very good. I turned down the free month for myself, however, only because I know that I would totally forget to cancel it, and I would end up paying for three months past the free month, like I did with Netflix...

The camera takes nice pictures too, but that's really no reason to buy it, since I'm sure you have a digital camera better than 1.3 mp.

Good points:
-Great software (menues, phone book, wallpapers, etc.)
-Durable phone
-Nice, classic look, doesn't stand out or offend.
-MP3 player (pretty sweet)
-Bluetooth capability
-Cheapest phone offered by verison with bluetooth and Vcast ($100 after $50 rebate.)

Bad points:
-Can't transfer files to and from phone with bluetooth (very disapointing, but I've learned that this is the same for all phones)
-Only comes in one color (not a big deal really, but I'd rather have had it in black)
-No good ringtones or games (okay with me because I don't play games on my phone, and I always leave it set on 'vibrate only'.)

the great reception you get might not be the same for other people, but its good that you get it :)

Good - I'm glad that Samsung has improved the quality of their phones. I had a SCH-410 from VZW back in the day, and it was a POS.

I like my cell phone to be just a phone, and as small as possible, TYVM. I had a Motorola V400 camera phone, and while it seemed like a quality machine, I gave it to l33t wife. Now I use a Nokia phone intended for business that was given to me by Zanthian. It's a phone. And not much else. That works out very well for me - I don't even use the phone book function for dialing.

I guess I'm old school.

Meanwhile, I wish my home phones had a phonebook function... :shakehead

I've had both Samsung and LG phones through Verizon. In my advice, go with the LG. As a whole, I've found them to be more durable and reliable.
