Coffee: Cream and sugar
Black Tea: Milk and sugar
Other Teas: varies

I usually need one of the above to get me started in the morning. Today it was coffee - UDF does free refills (if you own a UDF mug) on Mondays!

Black with sugar for me, please. I buy whole bean and grind my own every morning. it is the only way to go.

Tea? Black with sugar, fresh grated ginger, and fresh lemon. There is no other way.

I dislike both tea and coffee. If I want caffeine, it's usually from a soda of some sort.

Though, to get myself going in the morning, all I need is a hot shower.

Coffee - expresso only, no instand or perk'd coffee (have a commercial expresso machine in my kitchen)
depends on my mood
short black - one sugar - usually in the morning
Flat white with two sugars during the day
a Macchiato in the afternoon with one sugar

I rarely have cappuccino's but often make them for friends, cold days a latte is sometimes nice as well.

I love tea as well but tend to only drink it when a tea drinking friend comes over - at home I have it with milk and two sugars or when I eat vietnamese food we get a pot of green tea which I drink as is from the pot

Earl Grey- two cream, two sugar

I only like desert coffees... UDF has a few new coffee ice-cream flavors, and they are on sale this month... Two scoops for a dollar... The 'Mudpie' is pretty good; it's coffee ice cream with bits of chocolate cookie and chocolate syrup mixed in.

Hey there,
Extra large Dunkin Donuts coffee with six shots of cream; I carry the cup on rounds and park it outside the patient's room while I am inside.
Tea: only when I am sick like now; nasty bronchitis with no voice; Steve is enjoying the peace and quiet

What's the big deal, brew some tea, add some sugar, you make it sound like it's hard or something. Too many moving parts for you southern folk? ;D ;D

There actually is a place to get sweet tea here - It's a transplant memphis-style BBQ restaurant that came "all the way out west and north" to detroit to test the waters.

It's good alright, but it's no coffee :p

I like my coffee black as sin and hot enough to burn the scum off your teeth.

As far as tea goes, I like Orange spice tea. The best tea in the world is called Market Spice, coming from Seattle's Pike Place Market.

Actually, the best tea in the world is Twinings of London Earl Grey. It's a well documented fact of infusology (the study of leaves soaked in water for several minutes) which is widely accepted. It has been researched extensively by infusologists worldwide.

Twinings Darjeeling is a close second

If it's not made from freshly ground beans, it is NOT coffee, but merely a coffee-flavored beverage. :D We grind our own every morning. Our coffee maker has a built-in grinder. In the evenings we set up the machine with beans and water. In the morning, stagger downstairs, turn on the coffee maker. It grinds the beans, the grounds fall into the brewing basket, and the machine brews oh-so-good fresh coffee. By the time I've shaved, the coffee is hot and oh so delicious. Just a little bit of sweetener. Quality coffee needs no cream or other pollutants. :D BTW, you can get very good quality whole beans from most large grocery stores these days, also from Sam's and Costco. Per cup, it's a fraction of the cost of a coffee house.

Clutch, you are completely correct about sweat tea. Amen.

I never really liked coffe but that could be cause I'm used to my dad drinking some really strong cuban espresso. I like garbanzo coffee if that counts. As for real coffe, I'd take french vanilla since it's the closest thing to garbanzo but I'd rather take some chocolate milk :D

I came across the same situation when I went to Florida. I order sweet tea and they come back with water :shakehead

But it's all good, guess I will live forever in NC :p as long as grandma keeps the good cookin coming

coffe and tea = yes!

favorite coffee: greek coffee (turkish coffee is the same thing too), comes in small almost shot-like glasses. you have to let it settle before drinking b/c the grinds are in the bottom of the cup. made from very finely ground to a powder greek coffee beans. best place to get it is from greek-town in chicago, but other authentic greek restaurants usually have their own version. since i moved to new york i have been missing it. need to go out to astoria, queens to find some out here..

daily cups of coffe are made with a variety of fresh beans ground at home and grandma's trusty old perculator from the 70s. i usually use a french press to make my coffe, but my cat broke the glass container for the press and i haven't been able to find an exact replacement yet. beans are currently italian....lavazza i think...drink it usually with 1 spoon of sugar, but sometimes a little cream.

favorite tea = mint tea. usually use regular old lipton and add fresh mint leaves. but really any flavor tea with fresh mint leaves is good in my book. i drink it with a spoon of sugar.

Coffee-I like my coffee in different varieties from fairly light roast all the way to dark roast. I also like to buy the whole beans and grind enough fresh to last a few days. I drink it with a little sweetener and a little cream (the real stuff if possible) or milk. My Grandma used to make that horrid New Orleans Roast crap that has Chicory in it (I think it's some kind of tree bark ground in it) brewed in a drip pot. That was some nasty, nasty stuff. ;D ;D ;D My current favorites are Kona and Columbian Supremo.

The only tea I drink is iced tea occasionally. Never did acquire a taste for hot tea.

My family gets the rare coffee's from Gevalia. So far my favorite is the Maragogype bean coffee from Nicaragua. This month I'm drinking Harrar from Ethiopia. It's not a smooth coffee but it's good. A bit to complex for morning drinking. Awesome after dinner.

Leonardo
20 Oct 2005, 07:54pm
BJ, you need to influence your family to buy whole beans. The freshness factor will blow the Gevalia stuff away. Fresh beans from a good grocery store also cost about one half of what the prepackaged grounds cost.

primesuspect
20 Oct 2005, 09:44pm
Yup. I was a gevalia subscriber for two years. I finally switched to Dunkin Donuts whole bean and my coffee experience is much better now (and MUCH cheaper!)

The key is a quality grinder - A bought a Bodum burr grinder - it costs $60 but it is well worth it. I've had cheaper grinders, like 'home' quality ones made by Black and Decker or Mr. Coffee and they don't compare. A high end burr grinder gives a consistent grind.

We recently started grinding our own and buying whole bean whenever possible. When this subscription is up, I'll look into getting the beans but as for now, the Gevalia ground stuff is still good despite coming pre-ground.

community cafe blend w/ cream & raw sugar. Wifey brings me 1 cup to wake up and we watch news and weather before I get ready for work. Other than that we might drink one cup late at night about once every other month ...not often.
I bring my own coffee and sugar on business trips n stuff ...I don't like the stuff the supply and only make it as a last resort.
I just can't seem to get started w/o that 1 cup every single morning.
I did gevalia for a few years and bought a whole set of cups.
I also got some puerto rican fine ground once that was electric ...prolly illegal in some states.

My wife and I have been getting Gevalia for some time and it is always good. We grind it fresh daily and get some of the Starbucks special offerings from time to time. Most beans we get are of the richer darker variety served with 1/2&1/2 during the week and heavy cream on weekends. I enjoy a good cup of Earl Gray or Irish Breakfast tea from time to time with a little milk and sugar. I used to love sweet tea but now unsweetened iced tea is my daily staple after I've had my coffee. I rarely drink soda anymore but when I do it must be original Coke in a can.
