Yep, i pretty much stole a python book from amazon. The book was $1 with $3.49 shipping, so that comes out to $4.50. Im learning K++(karel), C++, and VB in school, right now we just finished with karel, and fixing to move onto C++. karel is supposed to be similar to C++, but it seemed pretty simple to me, all you could do was to tell a robot to move around a world to accomplish tasks. i did see some things that would be useful such as while, if/else, and loops. also class files. i cant wait for C++ though, thats what we are doing next. I was talking to my CS teacher and told her i wanted to learn to program really well, and she told me to get a book over python and to learn it.

What do you think of the python language. some of my friends said that it was mainly a hacking (not cracking, well it could be) language. others never heard of it. I've heard thats what google is run off of. I also wanna learn perl.

Do you think thats a good start? who on here is a pretty experienced programmer? Do you have sugestions of languages that should be learned. or should i learn some more basic languages first. my cs teacher said that python's syntax was really clear and what not. I want to be 1337

There is a British comedy troupe named Monty Python. When I saw the title of your thread I expected something along those lines. The post I linked to is one of their comedy routines.

And now for something completely different... :mullet:

oh..i see now..monty python and the holy grail, funiest movie i ever watched. "this is the holy grenade. pull the pin and count to 3, then throw. 1 is not enough, 2 is just short, 4 is risky, 5 is.." i forgot..but we'll sit in class when we are bored and just start saying the script for the movie. my favorites the duck, the witch and the wood ;D

Python is a good scripting language, or so I'm told. I sorta use it for ArcGIS, but I mainly use VBA, because I'm more familiar with it. A lot of the tools that come with the ArcGIS in the latest release are based on Python. Now I've told you everything I know about it :D

On topic: know nothing about Python computer language.

Off Topic: Sam's or Costco (sorry don't remember which) has the complete Monty Python television series on DVDs for $95! Hmm, do I smell an early Christmas? :D
