How many hurricane have you been through? #7 is on its way to me!!!!! wahoo!!
Ivan, Francis, Charlie, and... recently Rita.
Although Charlie and one other were the only two I actually "went through" the rest either were just kinda near misses... so to speak.
Charlie was my worst.

For the 10yrs I've been here, I believe I've passed through 4. 1 mayor (George), 1 medium and the other 2 mild.

I was in Florida when Camille hit (yes, a couple years ago) ;D
Now, about earthquakes. Frequent in Alaska. More here than in California. So far, no damage.

A few. Hurricane Gloria and the remnants of Hurrican Floyd. Usually by the time they make it up this far north they weaken to tropical storms or less. I've seen a bunch of Nor'easters, which drop tons of rain or snow.

God, it's way too many to count for me, since I've lived near the Gulf Coast all my life. So I'm the second 7+ answer for you, Gnome. :D

Just one back in the mid 70's on the gulf coast of Florida. It was a mild one. I went outside while the eye was going over, "coolest" thing I have ever been through.

Only one, just a weak Hurricane Bob in like 1993 I believe, early nineties anyway... not too many hurricanes make it up to New England.
Here in Pittsburgh PA we get about 30 hurricanes anually..... ;D

Well, I guess about now, Gnome is getting slapped around by Wilma while getting a hell of a "blow job". :hiding: :eek3: ;D
TWC is showing that quite a few parts of Florida are seeing winds around 100 mph, but this storm is really hauling butt across the state. That should help minimize damage, since these high winds won't be hanging around for a long time while it's crossing the state.
These last couple of cold fronts have really saved the Gulf Coast's bacon by moving this storm up and out of the region. They also helped cool the water down in the Gulf too, making the area not as condusive to large growth of the storm.
