Hey, Just wondering what everyone thought of the PSP. I have a chance to buy a PSP in perfect condition for $100. What are some nice things that you can do with it? Do you think I should buy it for 100 bucks?
Thanks

All I know is that you can play games, play MP3s, and get viruses on it ;D. I'm not into the handheld gaming world.

you should buy it for $100 bucks, see if you like it, if you do, good, if you don't, sell it on ebay and I guarantee you'll make money on the deal.

I was thinking the same thing :D :D
I would definitely do that just because its like a small computer with a wonderful screen :)

Definately go with that option.
if you dont wanna buy, i will, whats his email?!
:D :)
My only issue with them is this UMD "movie" format - so you own 400 DVD's you will have to go out and but them in this new format, that can only be played on this device, and the device cannot be plugged into an external screen/sound source so you can at least enjoy them on a big screen and use the PSP as a player.
other than that .... go with the above buy it, and if you hate is sell it on ebay for most probably more than you did - remeber to keep all the original packaging

100% agreed, that new UMD **** pisses me off, such a good format but no reason to get it becuase I am sure as hell not REBUYING my DVD's on UMD, but I would be willing to burn copies if I had a PSP. I want one though.

100$?? BUY IT! If you dont, I'll buy it right now, and paypal the cash to you (or whomever. PM me if interested.
I have one, and like it a lot. It is currently a DRM nightmare though, but if your resourceful enough, you can get past all of that pretty easily.
I think UMD movies are a joke. Why should I have to buy the movie twice to play it on all my devices? There are many tutorials around on how to convert your dvds to a PSP readable format. I think Thrax even wrote one and posted it here, but I cant seem to find it now.
I understand you can fit 2 movies on a 512 memory stick at descent quality from my understanding.
Sony rapes its customers through memory stick duo pro prices. 1GB is ~80$ but there are lots of groups working on ways to convert SD to the PSP. I would imagine it wont be long before I can use my 40GB iPod with the psp.
There is also a lot you can do on the homebrew front, with pretty simple software hacking. Emulators are very prevelent on the PSP. They have GBA, NES, SNES, Genesis, and a ton of other emulators.
You can surf the web on it, which I have come to enjoy as the ultimate reading material for the throne. In fact im typing this on my psp from the throne now. ;D
No im not. ;D
The games are amost as good as PS2 games, but there is a VERY limited selection at present. The best ones are probably Burnout Legends, and SSX On Tour. GTA Liberty storys comes out very soon... just in time for my next trek out to vegas :).
Multi play is sweet because you can play against other PSP owners ad hoc (sans wifi AP). Some games only require one copy, and will share out to the rest of the PSP owners.
You can even play it online through xlink kai. Which emulates an ad-hoc connection across the web.
my 2 cents.
