View Full Version : Regulators OK Adobe's Acquisition of Macromedia

The last hurdle has been cleared in Adobe's bid to buy Macromedia. The companies say that the deal will close on December 3, 2005.

Adobe also announced today it intends to discuss the combined Company's fiscal 2006 outlook with the financial community on Thursday December 15, 2005 as part of its fourth quarter and fiscal 2005 year-end earnings conference call, scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time that day.

The company also announced its executives will present Adobe's strategy to analysts and investors at Adobe's annual financial analyst meeting in New York City on Tuesday January 31, 2006.

I can't believe they allowed that. No more GoLive vs Dreamweaver, no more Freehand vs Illustrator. I thought this sort of thing was anti-competitive?

They are suck up all the MacroMedia products and turn them into bloated, overpriced Adobe products :mad:

yeh. adobe will turn it into an expensive program. but adobe does make good programs. though i can see how competition makes them make better programs.

That doesn't surprise me a bit, Shorty. These are probably the same regulators that have let the US (and also the whole world too) be held hostage to the Oil companies by letting a few giant companies buy up most all the competition until there are just 4-5 big oil Corporations left, who easily control the price we pay for natural gas, gasoline and other fuels and other petrochemical products. :rolleyes:

Don't believe me, just look at how 2 hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico drove up prices on petrochemical products worldwide this summer. :shakehead
