Reuters (http://today.reuters.com/news/newsarticle.aspx?type=technologyNews&storyid=2005-12-05T195659Z_01_ARM566955_RTRUKOC_0_US-MEDIA-XBOX.xml) reports that a man is suing Microsoft, claiming a design flaw in the Xbox 360 is causing it to overheat and lock up.

Console owners reported that some systems had crashed during regular use as well as during online game play using the Xbox Live service. Problems included screens going black and the appearance of a variety of error messages.

At the time O'Donnell told Reuters: "We have received a few isolated reports of consoles not working as expected."

She declined to say how many reports Microsoft had received and said that calls reporting the issue to the company represented a "very, very small fraction" of units sold.

Unless no other problems have been discovered, the problem of system freezes with the XBox 360s were caused by overheating external power supplies. The expedient fix was to suspend the power brick off of the floor to expose all sides to the air.

How did they ever get past UL? That sounds like the sort of thing that would give electricians and the Fire Marshall the jeebies. :wtf:

What do they expect people to do? I can't imagine it would be a good idea to leave the power brick hanging by the cord for any length of time. Maybe string up a miniature hammock for it? ;D

I know its unacceptable, but I'd just sit it in the open with a fan on it rather than freak out about it.

Well, in the summer you can set it on the floor register for your central heat and air, that is assuming you have central heat and air....and you have floor registers.

Well everyone has heat (if they don't I will ;D ), but I guess not all have ac, which is kind of all you need, so scratch out the heat part. Make a line to your xbox, or better yet, don't buy a 360 to begin with! When Microsoft puts their name on something, it goes to sh*t in problems.
