View Full Version : Major pop-up problems, help! - Iain Finnigan

Hi there, I've been having trouble with pop-ups on my computer while surfing. I posted here about a month and a half ago, but didn't get any responses - thats okay, you guys were obviously very swamped at the time. I've run Ad-aware SE, spybot, spy-subtract, cw shredder, and I have spywareblaster also. Nothing seems to be getting rid of these pop-ups though. Here is my HJT log: there are a few exe. files that I know are malware files that aren't showing up on my log though. One of them, undxq.exe, had 10 identical files running in running processes just before I rebooted earlier tonight (internet connection was not working, so I had to reboot), but now that file isn't even showing up in the running processes or the HJT log. The other ones, 6ylvm6.exe, d0ox.exe, and ez6aw.exe, aren't showing up on the log file either, but they're in my system32 and prefetch folders, and they're malware for sure. I assume I'll need to delete those as well. Thank you so much for your help. It is much appreciated!

Can you please do the following.

===============

We'll need to disable (not uninstall) Intermute's SpySubtract, since it might interfere with other program(s) we might be using to 'clean' off your system.

===============

When we're done cleaning off your system, I'd recommend that you install all the critical windows updates available from Microsoft, up to service pack 1. This will help to make your system more secure and prevent many 'problems' from reoccurring in the future.

===============

Now, let's open a command prompt by going to the start menu and then select 'Run'.

In the box that pops up type in 'cmd'. The command prompt will open.

OR

You can go to Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt. Unregister the dll(s) we're going to remove, by entering the following:

regsvr32 /u oh0e.dll

It's ok, if these aren't found or 'error' out. If you want, just copy and paste the individual lines to the command prompt to save typing them in.

===============

Run HiJackThis, click "Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7A1693A1-AFAF-4F1E-9B05-EEC38A85FBF3} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\oh0e.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [d6h502.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\d6h502.exe /k
O4 - HKCU\..\RunOnce: [d6h502.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\d6h502.exe /k
O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Gamma Loader.lnk = ?
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Works Calendar Reminders.lnk = ?

O9 - Extra button: AOL Toolbar - {4982D40A-C53B-4615-B15B-B5B5E98D167C} - (no file)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: AOL Toolbar - {4982D40A-C53B-4615-B15B-B5B5E98D167C} - (no file)

O23 - Service: ISEXEng - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\angelex.exe

Now, close all instances of Internet Explorer and any other windows you have open except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

===============

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure you are able to view system and hidden files/ folders: (http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html)

files...

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\oh0e.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\d6h502.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\angelex.exe

-

Note that some of these file(s)/folder(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them in "Safe Mode (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001052409420406?OpenDocument&src=sec_doc_nam)".

-

Reboot.

===============

After rebooting, rescan with hijackthis and post back a new log. Please let me know how your pc is now.

Hi, sorry for the delay in response - I was on a trip across state for health reasons. Thank you for responding so quickly. A couple of questions: first, I'm not sure how to disable spysubtract. Under options, I turned everything off that I could - is that all I need to do to disable it? Also, except for the first three entries that you're having me fix, the rest of them were present in my final HJT log I posted a few months ago, an HJT log that buckey sam said was clean (don't ask me how I recognized them - I really don't know, but here is the link to that thread http://www.short-media.com/forum/showthread.php?p=274907#post274907 ). Just wanted to check since there seems to be a discrepency there. I certainly don't mind fixing the aol entries, since I don't use aol anymore. I also wanted to check and see if I should delete the exe. files I mentioned in my first post at the same time that I'm deleting the other ones? I don't mean to ask so many questions - I'm just very cautious when it comes to technical things on my computer since I'm anything but an expert. Thanks!

Always good to be cautious :).

Angelex.exe = http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/angelex.exe-7641.html

==

These are obviously not on your system, hence the 'no file' and can be deleted.

O9 - Extra button: AOL Toolbar - {4982D40A-C53B-4615-B15B-B5B5E98D167C} - (no file)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: AOL Toolbar - {4982D40A-C53B-4615-B15B-B5B5E98D167C} - (no file)

Hijackthis is telling me that these shortcuts are broken;

O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Gamma Loader.lnk = ?
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Works Calendar Reminders.lnk = ?

Note the '?' at the end. It indicates a broken link. If this is not the case, leave the entries there.
