how come my standby and hibernate options arent available anywhere. just really started wondering. i have a NF3 board with a 64 2800+, XP pro.

Do you have the powrer managerment options enabled in the bios? ACPI (or APIC), stuff like that.

ill check when i get home. pretty sure i do, but maybe i dont. I thought maybe the power management wasnt working properly.
anyways im gonna go check it.

ok, checked the settings, chaged it from POS to STR, which i dont think makes a differenc, just how and where it suspends to.

Other than that, the only thing I could suggest is to see what HAL your OS is running.
Device Manager -> Extend the "Computer" (click the "+") button thingy.
It should say "Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC".

That, and you'll need your chipset drivers installed correctly (from nVidia's site).

hmmm...i dont know if i want to deal with those chipset drivers. last time i did that, it was a mistake. it wouldnt let me boot, forgot why, but i figured out after the 3rd reinstall that it was the chipset drivers screwing me over.
