Anybody know how to stop the latest version of AOL Intant Messenger from starting up with Outlook Express? So irritating!

I've switched to Trillian, so I may just uninstall AIM. I wanted to keep it around though, in case Trillian had a compatibility issue.

Go into your AIM preferences and then click Sing On/Off on the left. The very last check mark in those preferences says "Make AIM my default instant messaging program." Uncheck that box and it won't startup with OE.

Oh FFS, as if MSN Messenger was bad enough, AIM does it aswell? Its just not funny anymore. Especially the 500 shortcuts to "TRY AOL FOR 500YEARS FREE RIGHT NOW!" shortcuts it makes in every concievable place on your machine.

LOL. And AOL keeps buying out or bribing other software so they can sneak their links in everywhere.

But what I really love is when you uncheck a box that says "place AOL icons on desktop" and it does it anyway (or puts them in your start menu instead, just to be funny). :banghead:

They've had a patch for 2-3 days now. Check www.trillian.cc :)

I'm glad I've not updated my AIM since the year 2000 or so.

I actually didn't like Trillian.

I don't know why..it just didn't appeal to me.

Been using Eyeball chat, running my ICQ in the background.

That fixed MSN and Yahoo before, but Yahoo have changed again and there is no patch on the site this time.
