It just hit me yesterday, when I was thinking about prof's plan for distributing Sunrocket to all the phone jacks in the house... the cabling in my house is a mess! There is 1 entry point for cable, and whoever did it ran a single cable from the cable company's box through a hole in the wall, in the living room, and probably to their TV. This is running to my cable modem now, but it's ridiculously sloppy, not to mention ugly. In addition to that, phone lines are spliced and sprinkled all over the house, and I have a wireless network to our PCs right now because the cable comes in to the cable modem at one end of the house, and our office is at the opposite end.
I've put together a plan that would allow me to run all necessary cabling from a Central Wiring Panel downstairs to 8 locations throughout the house. I'd be able to run telephone and network cabling through CAT5e, and video through coax using the following very nice items:

Now, the whole project would get expensive. I've calculated over $500 in materials, once the cabling, jacks, etc are all taken into account.
My questions:
1) How do I justify it to my wife?
2) Does it have a return in resale value on the house?
3) Is there anything I am blatantly overlooking?
