HD installing/recognizing

Ok my master is a 40gb drive, my slave is a 140gb drive, is there a way to transfer all the files on my 40gb drive to my 140gb drive and make the slave drive into my master?

Personally I say keep the 40 as your OS disk (and any apps that don't give the option to run on D: ) and use the 140 to load programs onto by specifying it in the install options and as overall bulk storage.

But, hey, I'm the kind of guy that does these things.

Download knoppix or dsl linux.
boot off the cd
go to the console
---
hda = primary master
hdb = primary salve
hdc = secondary master
hdd =secondary slave
---
dd if=/dev/hda of=/dev/hdb

(Assuming that you want your primary master duplicated on your primary slave)
Then shutdown the system and pull out the old hardrive and replace the new hdd in its location (hda if it was primary master)

Once it boots back to windows go to diskmanagement and make a second partition (Becuase all you will have is one 38gb partition if you don't)

Then use parition magic to resize it or just leave it and use that to store all your games and crap.

edit: Just noticed I forgot /dev/*

Also if that command doesn't work add bs=1M at the end of that command.

Simply install the os to the 40 gig and whenever you install programs choose custom for the install options and where it shows the folder path change the drive letter from C: to D: or whatever the second hard drive is, just be certain to leave the folder structure intact.

It will look like this: (simply by example) "D:\Program Files\Atari\Fahrenheit Demo" Rather than: "C:\Program Files\Atari\Fahrenheit Demo"

It's not terribly complicated.

Reformat my OS drive

Install the OS, then set it so the games and everything else goes into the bulk 140gb drive. And all the nice little system files go on the 40gb with plenty of space for good quality...

My post is telling you how to made an exact clone of your curent drive on your new one. (Your os and all your crap).

No if you use knoppix it will run entirely off the cd.

I do the same thing as madmat. I have a 20 gig for my OS, and a 120gig to save files, games, or whatever else.
