RPC Not available [Archive]

I am trying to install my printer Lexmark z600 series but keep getting this message rpc not available

Can anyone help please. I have windows xp home edition

Have you tried installing the drivers BEFORE attaching the printer...? :)

I have the disk for the printer installs everything but then say rpc unavailable The printer was working fine then disappeared all of asudden

Make sure the Print Spooler service is started and set to "Automatic".

Are you logged on as Administrator during the installation?

What shows up in Control Panel under Printers and Faxes?
