Improve performance of non gaming rig

I bought a new pc 2 years ago for gaming. Now I dont game but do a lot of video editing, is there anything I can do to improve performance?

Athlon XP3200
1GB RAM
Geforce FX 5900XT
Win XP Pro

Your CPU is still fairly powerful to today's standards. The easiest way to get a bit of a performance boost in gaming would be to invest in a new graphics card. Unfortnatly, all of the top-end performers are PCI-Express models. The 6800GS may be a good choice and should provide a nice boost in performance.

What kind of budget do you have in mind?

If all your doing is video editing, then all you really need is memory, HDD storage, and perhaps a video capture card of some sort I'd say.

The only graphics cards that will increese your proformence in video editing are ati's new X1000 series cards.

Oops, I read the post wrong, I thought you wanted improved gaming performance. RWB did give you some sound advice there.
