Was thinking of building a gaming PC with a small budget of around $500. I'll be purchasing almost all of my parts at newegg. These are the parts that I have in mind.
Mobo - ABIT KV-85 Micro ATX. Socket 754. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813127229#DetailSpecs
CPU - AMD Athlon 64, 2.4Ghz.

Hard Drive - SATA 160GB

RAM - 1GB DDR 400.
My main concern is the mobo, is it the best suited for this system? I'm also not sure about SATA HDD's. And would it matter if I just get a 2.0Ghz instead of 2.4Ghz processor? What kind of difference would that make.

I've not had any problem with my 3200+ Venice Core, I've loved it to death, even got it overclocked to 2.3ghz. Chances are you won't notice as much of a difference unless you want to fold. I'd go for good ram and a pretty good video card so that you'll get the most bang for your buck. Games seem to hinge more on that than the processor these days.
Also, why are you getting a Micro ATX Board?
Of course...that's my opinion.
Edit: Stupid me typing in his quote box.

What type of PSU would I need for this system?

I don't know. xD
Would it matter if it's micro or not?

Well, if you're building a standard system, it will. Micro ATX is for form-factor boxes (think something the size of a gamecube). Also, why don't you go ahead and get a 939 instead of the 754?

Well the cpu I want is 754. Trying to keep costs down. The system I have right now is fine for games. It just needs a bigger Hard Drive and a better video card.
40GB HD. -_-

I think I'm just gonna buy a bigger HD. These are my current specs. I built this system two years ago and I can play every game but Doom3 perfectly.
Intel Celeron, 2.4Ghz.
40G HD.
1G Ram.
Geforce 5700 LE Video Card. (AGP)
Abit Mobo. (I love Abit)
No SATA, No Raid, No pcie.
Hard Drive has been full for awhile, was thinking of building a new comp but I guess upgrading my HD would be most cost efficient. :p
Thanks for your input.
