hi . silly question but whats does hot swapping sata actually mean ?

With the proper hardware (not just any old SATA controller or drive will do), you are able to replace hard drives without shutting the system down and powering the computer off. It is mostly useful for servers where you need to replace a failing drive with zero downtime. :)

if you happen to have a nForce4 motherboard and install the SW IDE driver, all sata drives will show up as removeable devices, like a pen drive, because they are hot swappable.
