How much did you spend? You should've spent your money on some nice "mtx/memphis/jbl/something of the sort" speakers and a powerful 10"...quality not size!

I've never understood huge subs. Are you going to put it in your car? I can't understand why people like driving around with some rap slamming through a gigantic sub and making sh*t rattle across the street. Why? What's the point? Don't get me wrong, I love music, and if you're gonna rock out, by all means play it loud. I'm not a fan of standard metal, but if you throw on some Pelican and crank that sucker, I'm drooling. I did it just tonight - it feels wrong to listen to that kind of music quietly. But 15" of destruction has to be terrible for your ears :(

Edit: And by blasting I meant turning up the speakers to a notch below the point where they start distorting. Seeing as the car's a '97 Sunfire with the stock system, you can tell it's not that loud...

HEY HEY HEY HEY!!! I do NOT go blasting RAP of all thing, I cant stand the music except for a few songs. and if you knew the company, these subs arent meant for SPL they are meant for SQ AND SQL. and no, i dont go around like a dumbass. and im not out at 2 AM, i have to be in by 12.

I mainly listen to rock, (avenged sevenfold, chevelle, saliva) but im pretty broad those are just my favorites. and yeh, i thought about running dual sealed 10's instead of a ported 15, but I would of had to buy a bigger amp cause a sealed enclosure isnt as efficient, and a ported sounds just as good if you do the design right.

but yeh, the 15, is mainly just to show off. I hate distortion, that is why im getting the arco componets while they are on preorder too. and the rears in my car are out, that way i can get a good soundstage, got to go

Then don't listen to music while sat in a small tin box. :nudge:

its not tin, its sheet metal and aluminum. but anyway, there is enought padding (seats, carpet) to keep sound from resonating, and other than that the only other effect is cabin gain. but yeh, I would like to do a nice setup for my room, but 1, my dad goes nuts over the little 6 inch sub in my brothers stereo, and it only has like 20 watts running to it.

and 2.) Home audio amps are so damn expensive.

I got a new 12" sub once - it was buffalo chicken. Not that good, actually. I didn't really think the buffalo sauce was spicy or authentic tasting.

i was running a 12" kicker s12L5 in a premade kicker box in my 01 focus hatchback. I had to get rid of it was giving me too many headaches. It would move my car. So im running 2 12" kicker comp cvr's. Thinking of getting some soundstreams or something like it. I want to go to 4 10's so they hit tighter and faster

MUAHAHA! :rarr:

Actually, I think I'd put horns and that mangy buffalo fur on a chicken before I put wings on a buffalo. Can you imagine what would happen if you got buffalo excrement pelting your windshield, dropped from high above, while you're driving 70 mph on the Interstate? Even mad scientists have to be a little socially responsible.

Chickens with horns and fur would just be funny. Perhaps slightly hazardous, but mostly funny, in that "aboniation of nature" sort of way.

Do you think that could kill someone? considering that acceleration due to grabity is 9.8 m/s and saying that a buffalo might fly at ohh 50 meters to make it easy, by the time it hit someone that is around 1.5 meters tall, the "manure" would be falling at 475.3 m/s

And depending on what the bufalo had been eating, it could be very dense, or very watery. if it was dense, you might want to watch out.:range:

Actually I think it's like 30 m/s. Maybe you divided 2gh by 2 instead of taking its square root. Sorry for acting picky...

30 m/s?? are you sure about that? (http://kossi.physics.hmc.edu/Courses/p23a/Experiments/Gravity.html)

That is a pretty good link. but yeh, the further away from the surface you go, the less acceleration you get, at earths surface its ABOUT 9.8 m/s, thats where you get into geosyncrous orbit (if im not mistaken) being far enough way that the earth wont pull the object back down. i.e. g = 0

While Quizno's is expensive, they're the only decent fast food restaurant in this town.

There's a McDonalds in town, but that is not food. Besides, I don't trust that Ronald guy. (http://drmcninja.com/mcdonalds.html)

I'd avoid the low-end Sony and Aiwa decks when you're looking. My Aiwa deck is good in general except for one thing - it won't grab certain cds. I stick them in, and I hear the disc slipping instead of spinning. My dad's Sony did the same thing, but his took a year to develop the problem, mine did it after 2 months.

If it's only $50, then you're not out too much if it does go bad. If their extended warranty is cheap, that might be a good idea. That way you can swap it out as soon as it has a problem.

jensen. heard that they are pretty reliable, from what ive seen that are just a plain old head unit without all the fancy stuff other headunits have. as long as your happy with it and it works, i guess thats all that matters.

on the other hand, i am extremely happy with mine (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-tF0SowHI2nT/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?I=113kdcx889&search=kdcx889) I bought it right before they came out with the new models, so i got i good deal, and i sure as heck didnt buy it at crutchfield, they charge RETAIL (who does?) i just use them as an excelent reference.

i think the retail on that headunit was around $450 and I got it for $170. Im really happy with it. only thing i dont like is that the display washes out easy. but it is a 64 color flourescent lcd, who can argue with that?

bikerboy
5 Mar 2006, 12:10pm
when i got to Circuitcity they had a very limited selection. i didnt want to spend to much but i also didnt want to get a POS. i decided that this one (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sony-In-Dash-CD-Player-with-MP3-Auxiliary-Input-CDXGT100-/sem/rpsm/oid/139675/catOid/-13089/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do)was a good comprimise. sound quality is great and even on the stock speakers it sounds better than before. now i just have to hook up my subs which isn't going to be to hard. just have to hide the wires and such.
