Looks great! IMO, the Corrado is probably the best looking machine VW has ever produced...

I didn't know they had a supercharged version tho... how fast is that thing?

I've had to about to about 130mph but was fast running out of gearing. It's got a stage 4 tuned supercharger and has reciepts to prove it puts out 175bhp. My next mod is a decat pipe & a smaller charger puller, this should boost power upto 200bhp.

175 HP... in a 2000-odd pound car. :wtf:

Needs more power! ;D

10lbs/hp or better is the goal, just keep that in mind ;)

I didn't even know they made a car like that. It looks very nice, congrats. I wouldn't mind owning one for myself..Hell, anything that runs actually. And my damn license.

Thrax, if you want to get one when you get a car, check hemmings motor news (www.hmn.com) and autotrader (www.autotrader.com); they were made from at least the early '90s through the mid '90s, I think. I'd search for corrado for all years between 1980 and 2000...

Anyhow, Jim, I was just looking @ that pic again... would that happen to be a Mercedes E-Class in the background, by any chance? Like, say a W210 chassis car? Made between 1995 and 2002, maybe?

Congrats on the purchase. It's a very clean car, and I do agree with Geeky1 that it is the best looking VW. Have fun with it.

Jimbo: is that a crack running up the side of your house or cabling?

Jimborae

Nice look car man, I have always thought that VW made some nice loooking cars and still do think that. As long as you take care of her she should be a good ride for ya. But just don't go and put a big 4' wing on the back of it, hehe

I second that, the Corrado is the only VW I would want to own, not a big fan of any of the others.

How much did that thing run you? $$$

Hey jim, how come your corrado is so pretty. I compared it to others of same year and yours just looks much better. Maybe it's european styling instead of american, or is it a different body kit.

Oh yeah, you said something about Alfa's, have you owned any, if so which. I own an 86 Alfa Spider and I love it, and the newer ones are probably just as sweet.

Awesome looking ride, very well respected when they were out but kinda died off in popularity, not sure why...sorta like the scirroco (Sp?)

Ok it looks better than a standard one because its got 17" alloys on it instead of the standard 15" rims. Also its been lowered 35mm with Eibach progressive springs & Koni adjustable dampers. So it has a much more of a mean & poised stance than a standard Corrado.

Alfa's I have owned include 3 Alfa Suds, all 1.5 ti Green Clover Leafs, 1 Alfa 33 1.7 Green Cloverleaf Veloce & 1 Alfa GTV 6 (best sounding V6 engine in the world bar none.)

Clutch, no big wings will be going on this baby. It actually has a discreet re wing spoiler that extends from the boot (trunk) when you go above 40 mph, similar to the Porche 911's

This is the only under the bonnet picture I have at present which i didn't take so apologies for the quality. I'll try and get some proper shots today.

Hey, could you put that thing on a railroad track and go tell me to change some things I did last week? :)

Corrados are dead sexy, but they have a tendency for borking the supercharger if I remember right. I know that there is a turbo kit out there for it incase such a problem arises. www.eiptuning.com

Congrats on a nice find.

I yearn for a 944. There is a place here in OKC called Lindsay Racing that specializes in 944 preperation. They had a trick 944turbo that had all their stage 3 kit except the mass air flow they were going to sell me for $10k. I would have jumped on it but since I've never had ten grand, it was only a dream. You'll find their adds in Excellence and Grassroots Motorsports if you read those mags.

Yea, a Lindsay 944 is a local boy's RuF.

Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my keyboard.
