I am currently working on a new novel.
The basic outline= In the year 2060 the world is controlled by a Corporation called Microsoft;D err sorry typo- actually it is named The Conglomerate. Ruled by Clones:hair:
;D
Anyway- they have taken over the world with there superior genetics and "normal people" are either slaves and/or hunted for sport.:skeptic: :eek2:
Less than 1.6 billion population. Highly advanced technically. These Clones where originally developed by the military using tech and info they retrieved from a crashed Alien craft in 1965. They then proceeded to use them as army forces in 2020 and as a work force. They of course rebell - and win:eek2:

The story is being told from the point of view of one of the 3 most powerful clones who all originally came from the same source. This clone however is incredibly "good";) and findsthe file that explains there origins - he and many other cloneswere created after the war with the humans,he begins questioning his society. And helps the human resistance after an agonizing metamorphisis??!!;D

I posted this for - feedback
insights
links to cloning
Ideas about cloning
And to ask - would ANYBODY read this!;D

Here's my feedback:

I tried to get a short story that I wrote a few years ago published. It was pretty old-school science fiction. It didn't make the grade. Why? Because it focused on the science fiction themes rather than the characters.

As it turns out, it's very difficult to write a good old-fashioned science fiction yarn and get it published these days. Most of the publishers are looking for a character-driven story, with lots of focus on the people aspect of the story, using the science and science fiction themes as only a backdrop.

To me, the science fiction themes are the most interesting part of the story. I gave up on getting it published, because I didn't want to write about people, I wanted to write science fiction. Unfortunately, publishers are not looking for actual science fiction in this day and age - at least not from new authors.

Good luck in your writing - your themes are interesting to me. Hopefully, if you're trying to get published, you can put a solid set of characters on top of them.

You gotta think about it, are people going to be as interested in this as you were with just sci-fi? There has to be some decent character driven story to it. Although some great short stories are made without the need for even a single name. Such as Asimov's story which I forget the name to, about how technology eventually becomes GOD. I love the ned of the story, when the machine says... "Let there be light" ;) It basically goes through several "times" in which two people are interacting with each other each tim differently from the last until the only thing left is the machine. It's superb.

I am actually working on my own story, but it won't be a book. I am working on an online presence similar to some of the online comics, but it will be video's and an ongoing story. Think 15 minute TV shows, on the internet.

Of course you could also publish yourself. Use kinko's or something and sell the books yourself. Be sure to copywrite everything, and go with it. Maybe a publisher will pick you up.

As for the story, you kinda presented this thread to me as a joke. I wasn't sure if you were serious or not. Though this could end up like the movie "Mars Attacks" which is just a goofy concept but wasn't bad and made SOMEONE some decent money I am sure.

So my question is this, will you be presenting this as a comedic sci-fi book like "Mars Attacks", or more serious styled "1983" stuff?

This is actually a trial writing. A test to improve my writing so I can begin work on a very serious novel that I have a guarantee to have published if I can ever get it done:rolleyes:

Yes this story has a very over the top type of atmosphere and general underlying theme, though not overtly.

The joke aspect comes from " should I bother writing this S#%@!! " - a constant nagging question in regards to this story.

My stories always focus mainly on the characters yet with much detail and dedication given to the creating of the "sci-Fi" reality. I also write in other genres.

My characters are highly influenced by classics of the last 300 years and
greek writers. Also the occult and philosophy play roles in the lives of my characters and serve as underlying seeds for character development.
My sci-fi influences comes from Weird Tales authors and some of the Golden Age writers.
