While no word has been officially released from either Dell or Alienware, we heard from a reliable source this morning that the purchase has indeed gone down.
An Alienware PR representative did not deny the claim but instead forwarded us a prewritten statement from the company that said: "At this time, Alienware will not comment on any speculative stories or rumors concerning Dell and Alienware's association. While we do believe that news stories like this are ultimately a strong positive reinforcement of the Alienware brand and the company's success, we will not comment on speculation or potential future events. As always, Alienware is committed to offering consumers and businesses with the best high-performance, innovative PC products on the market and we remain manically focused on that goal."
So this is how Dell is going to get AMD onboard...

According to The Inquirer (http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=30289): Dell buys Alienware, as predicted Although The Inquirer speculates on a daily basis, their speculation is usually fairly accurate. I'd believe The Inq any day before Dell. Dell's hype machine is second only to Intel's.
It seems the latest word doing the rounds, is that the acquisition is just a rumour. http://www.techspot.com/news/20855-dell-alienware-rumors-debunked.html

It all makes sense. Dell is like a Toyota, which could never get away selling $60k car, but they can sell it thru Lexus. Thats why Dell wants to buy Alienware... it makes perfect sense. Dell=Toyota, Alienware=Lexus

Well, I have some inside information. We can't say much about it, but it is a done deal. Yes, Toyota and Lexus are the same company, so it's a good comparison... Even though Alienware is more like a BMW or a Lamborghini ;)

Yeah I was... because at the time it was unconfirmed, hence why it's just come out the last day or so that it actually went through.

The actual Buy out happened before the rumor was actually on the net,. I think it was the 12th according to a few of my sources. Hence why I had no problem posting that Dell bought Alienware… It was members of the staff that thought is was a rumor.
