View Full Version : HJT Log: would appreciate a brief check

sect

Hello, I have been having a few issues with my connection latley and have run numerous scans to find nothing obvious (to me) that explains a reduced dl rate. Sometimes my dl rate just stops altogether and we're not capped.

If someone could just take a min to check my HJT scan I'd really appreciate it :)

Ran the Panda ActiveScan which found a few problems (log posted above), and the Bitdefender Scan found nothing.

Ran the Kaspersky A-V Personal scan as I already have that software, which found nothing.

*The other boxes are optional*
Then click the Empty Selected button.

================================================================

Open HijackThis
- Click the Do a system scan only button
- Check the following entries (below)

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {01E69986-A054-4C52-ABE8-EF63DF1C5211} - (no file)

O23 - Service: Avrw8d - Unknown owner - (no file)

- Close ALL open windows (especially Internet Explorer!)

Please answer these questions:

1) Do you have a Firewall?
2) Do you use both AVG and Kaspersky?

================================================================

Reboot and post a new HJT log :)

Thankyou for your help :)

I have just started using ZoneAlarm (the free version) for my firewall, but I installed this after I posted the first HJT log.

I use both AVG and Kaspersky, though I only run a Kaspersky scan when I have an issue where AVG is being used all the time.

New scan after following your instructions.

Just one thing to do:

We need to stop a service...

Click Start button then select Run.
Type services.msc then hit OK.
Scroll down and find the service called.

Avrw8d

Right-click on Service and choose Properties.
On the General tab under Service Status click the Stop button to stop the service.
Beside Startup Type in the dropdown menu select Disabled.
Click Apply then OK. Exit the Services utility.

Apart from that, your log is clean.

How is your computer?

Have taken my time posting this as I've wanted to give it a fair test.

Computer is still running a bit slower than usual, though it could just be my imagination. When opening pages in firefox they wont load untill I refresh them, so can't tab browse. I'll give it some more time before I decide wether things should be better or not, but if you can't see any problems in the HJT log I wont bother you anymore. Many thanks for all your help :)

Here's a final HJT scan, and I just ran the Panda Active Scan that found something Spybot can not.

Yeah, your log is clean. One thing you can do, which I think you have, is not to run Kaspersky at startup.

Lets do some more scans. I know you have kaspersky, but could you run this please.

Kaspersky Online Virus Scan (http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner)
- Click on the Kaspersky Online Scanner button
- On the new window that opens, click the Accept button
- Kaspersky will check if you have the ActiveX installed. If not, you will be prompted to download it. Please do - it is perfectly safe.
- After accepting to install the ActiveX, you will need to click Accept again
- Kaspersky will then install the ActiveX and download the latest Anti-Virus files from their database. Please be patient, it may take several mintues to download the latest files. Click Next when done
- Select My Computer
Please do NOT use the internet while Kaspersky is scanning
- When the scan is complete, click the Save as Text button. Call it Virus Results and save the report to your desktop.
- Open the file and paste the entire contents here

Sorry its taken me awhile, been busy with school.

Said nothing was found, and no 'save as text file' option was made available.

Report is empty.
Please note: The free Kaspersky On-line Scanner does not provide comprehensive protection and cannot prevent future infections. It only detects malware that has already penetrated your storage devices. We strongly recommend that you use a fully-functional antivirus solution to protect your computer at all times.

Please wait, this process may take a long time depending on the selected target. If you want to continue browsing, open a new window.

Scan Progress [99%]:

Total number of scanned files: 66230
Number of viruses found: 0
Number of infected objects: 0
Number of suspicious objects: 0
Duration of the scan process: 00:56:41

Nothing found...thats good! :)

Go here (http://www.silentrunners.org/) and download then run Silent Runners.vbs. It generates a log, please post the information back in this thread.
If you have a script blocking program, please allow the file to run. It is not malicious.
