Well, I'm a big Zito fan and a big Martinez fan. I want Oakland because of the low payroll/GM Philosophy yet I want Boston because of their history. So, I don't really have a preference.

But I THINK the Sox will win. Martinez is on 4 days rest, Zito on 3 days rest. Pitchers on 3 days rest in the playoffs are 6-15 in 31 starts, according to Rob Neyer on ESPN and I tend to think that even if they were both on 4 days rest and threw 100 games against each other, Martinez would win a (not huge) majority of the time.

Zito gets tired in 6th on 3 days rest, didn't throw a curve for a (called) strike all inning, hadda come with the cheese to Manny and *k r u s h* there's your ball game folks. One helluva ballgame it was tho, a classic, ending on a strikeout with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 9th.

Boston's gonna have a tough time with the NYY I'm afraid. The obvious sentimental favorite series of Cubs/Sox would be a ratings bonanza and a real boost for MLB in general but I don't think the Sox pitching can take them there, whereas NY's can. NYY in 5.

Cubs over Marlins in 7, NYY over a very tired Cubs team in 5 (Prior throws a gem vs NY for their only win) for the Series.

one down 3 to go...... but the game last night was kinda boring... kinda one sided unlike game 7 in the boston vs oakland series

Yeah, I agree, the Boston/Oakland game on monday was much more exciting and edge of the seat, but last nights game was pretty good, I was glad the red sox won ;)
