DDR2: Supported or not

I am still new at the game. I just put in a A8N-E mobo. I am running ddr 400 dual channel. My mobo specs don't say anything about ddr2. How new is the ddr2 on mobo's.

Could I possibly throw ddr2 in and have it still boot?:scratch:
