Would anyone please instruct me how to configure an URL from IP address? ,other than by typing the IP address in address bar or search bar of search engine?

(I could configure an IP address from URL by using "Start-run-cmd-ping website address" method, (WinXP Home) but do not know the technique for vice versa).

I would really appreciate if anyone would help me in this matter.
Thank you for your time and assistance!

what? you want to know the websites domain name from its ip adress?

maybe you dont understand how the internet works. let me explain.

All servers on the internet have an ip address signed to them, this is why you can access a website via the ip address, the "name" such as short-media.com, is completly un-necesary from a functionality standpoint, the name is called a domain, you register the domain, and it goes to all the domain servers accross the world, and when someone types in short-media.com, the domain server directs that request to the apporopiate ip address. I do not believe that search engines catalog ip addresses.

Thank you for the quick response!

When I type an IP address on yahoo search bar, usually the domain name (website address) come up. But for certain IP address, I do not get the result.

My inquiry: Would anyone please instruct me a method to obtain a website address (domain name) info from IP address?, other than by typing an IP address in search bar of search engines.

Thanks so much!

you could try and do a reverse ip search from the who is database if it allows it, or you could just put the ip address in the address bar, go to the site, and get the url of the site from their, which is its domain.

no, not off hand, I would try the whoIS database first and see if it will allow you to do it, or type Reverse IP into the search box at google or yahoo.

Whois databases do not have a specific URL for the IP address, albeit they provide the register's info.
Thank you for your all assistance!
