Currently i use
Virus Scanner - Avast! Antivirus
Spyware Scanner - Spyot S&D
Internet - Internet Explorer
Firewall - Zone Alarm
I recently got a virus from a website and none of the programs above even recognised the virus. I was thinking maybe the setup im useing isn't a good one and maybe change a few of my programs.
Any tips would be appreciated :)

hmm.. you need at least a couple of spyware scanners for effective detection and removal of all spyware.. try adding Ad-Aware SE, Windows Defender (beta2) and SpywareBlaster.
also use Mozilla Firefox instead of IE because its generally more secure and reliable

I'd look into checking the files you download or switching browsers, you shouldn't need that many programs. Maybe Spybot S&D/Adaware for occassional spyware checks and one AV app of your choice (not resident) to scan files you have that you may think are odd. That's all you need as long as you use some common sense and applications that don't have gaping holes.
Just out of interest, what was the file, what was the Virus and where did you get it from?

I respect your opinion Enverex, but I must disagree. An antivirus program should be running when the computer is connected to a network or the Internet.
Luke, here is the forumula (all freeware) that I've been running for three years now:
AV: AVG Personal
Anti-malware: SpywareBlaster, Ad-Aware, Spybot
Browser: Mozilla Firefox
Firewall: hardware firewall with my wireless router
It's been essentially bulletproof.
I've had zero problems with any of the programs conflicting with each other or Windows. All them draw minimal system resources.

Ive used limewire for some time, i got viruses off of it, i had about 3 viruses in 3 months, and one of which my computer wouldnt turn on unless i set it back (system restore).........................
then some poeple on here helped me fix it, and told me to use
AV: AVG
Anti-spyware: spyware shooter, adaware-se, and E-wido security suite
Firewall: windows
browser: Firefox
And i havnt had a problem since then, also when i download something off the internet or limewire, i always right click and scan with AVG before i open it.
