Sony's press release for PS3 at E3 revealed the new PS3 controller. Sony is sticking with a design much like the PS2 controller and has ditched the previous boomerang design.

The "secret" can't wait any longer. The controller is motion sensitive. Harrison said it has "six degrees of freedom" with no external sensor required. The controller will come standard with each PS3.

I saw the G4 preview on the new Wii's motion controller and it looks really good. Since I suck and console games because I can never sit down long enough to learn the buttons... I'm looking ofrward to the motion sensing controllers... We'll see if PS3 will be similar to Wii...

I was reading some articles of E3 coverage here (http://e3-2006.joystiq.com/), and it turns out Logitech had motion senstive controllers back in 1999 (they never took off). A lot of people's first thought was that Sony copied Nintendo's controller, but in reality, they both copied a seven year old design. It'll be interesting to see if either one of these designs become accepted this time around.

Also, a lot of people are slamming Sony for sticking with the old controller design. Sure, it's not innovative, but I thought they got it right with the PS1, and I'm glad they're sticking to it

I've always found the PlayStation controllers a bit uncomfortable with the way the two shoulder buttons are laid out. My hands would cramp after a short time when they were used a lot.
