This is Sydney.

She is purebred Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie)

My fiance is on her way up to the San Francisco area to pick her up from the breeder today.

As soon as Sydney is 6 months old, we plan to put her through training with the Delta Society. (http://www.deltasociety.org/) The Delta Society trains dogs to work with the elderly and disabled. Mandi is a special needs teacher, and plans to use Sydney in her classroom. There are a couple hospices & nursing homes near where we live that have expressed interest in us visiting as often as we can.

My girlfriend's aunt has two shelties, Sandy and Rowdy...and man are they great! They are both about 14yrs old, and they just love people.

That is a really cute puppy you have there. That is really cool you are going to put it into the training and all.

Training can be a life saver for the dog as well as the owners. Take my parents dog, my dad hates him, he's so cute and such a good dog, but he's just so hyperactive and doesn't do anything you say that my dad utterly hates him and I feel so bad for the dog as he doesn't get as much attention anymore. I plan on taking her when I move into a house within a year or so.

I grew up with a sheltie, she's probably 11 or so now and her hips are starting to get arthritus. They make great dogs though.
