EXCEPT when I want the weather on demand stuff-- WeatherWatcher is a freebie, BTW. Had to do a pallette based PNG convert, 256 color pallette, looks better here-- I hate it when I come in 20K over the upload\png limit..... ;( ;D
Screen Res is 1280x1024, 16 bit colors.

I like the f1 and f2 stats in upper right corner, what are they??? Benchmarks by folding client??? Also, is the 66 the RAM load in percent of total RAM free???? I KNOW, Curious George here.... :D I'm like a kid with simple stats displays on desktops....

if so, when my clients start up while everything else is loading, I get around 3200 each. And if I restart a client without restartign Xp, the figures jump by 3000 to about 6200.

If these f1 and f2 numbers are not folding client stats, what are they???

Nice picture of your son-- when I was at that age, I had a brush cut.... VERY short one.

csimon
19 May 2004, 3:29am
LOL f1 and f2 are my fans 1 & 2 ...but I like the way you think John!!!
66 is the percentage of wu completed (notice EMIII 264/400=66%) and the graph there to roughly shows it.
All of the stats are displayed thru coolmon v1. The third and fourth line are derived from a text file within your folding directory called unitinfo.txt.

The current data from within that file is:

Current Work Unit
-----------------
Name: p693_L939_WT_Nat
Download time: May 18 01:23:44
Due time: July 26 01:23:44
Progress: 69% [||||||____]

The brush cut is coming ...hehe!!!

If you want to know more about how to set up these stats for you folding data with coolmon I'll be glad to help. I'll post the one from school soon ...just multiply the stats here by 25-27?

Thought you might get a chuckle, and it is amazing what you find by looking at and asking about desktops.... :D

MY DAD was real conservative, don't brush cut the young-un too much, OK??? Kids like looking like other kids their age, usually-- LIKE IT big time.... I HATED brush cuts, maybe that is why I hate haircuts now....

Might try something like Coolmon.... Though I do not need it for client monitoring.... (GOES via KVM to other box to show why, will edit post from there.... Done....)

entr0py, yeah, it's full size. But stretching it to 16x12 on my laptop didn't result in much noticeable degradation in image quality- it's a bit fuzzy, but not very much. The only way it's really noticeable is if you look at both the stretched and original versions at the same time.

Holy crap dude! 1600x1200 is this monitor's max. (well, almost. It's more like 17xx by 13xx... x=I dunno!) 1280x1024 is it's native res I think. Everything is much too small at 16x12.

1600x1200 is too small for me as well (it's a 17" LCD). I've got mine at 1280x1024 right now. Unfortunately, there's not a version of the wallpaper for this size. But he does make it in several other sizes as well. The wallpaper has the URL for all of his wallpapers on it, if you're interested. I think he's some kind of art student. Most of them are pretty good work.

tcith, I took a look at that site, and I'm going to have to do some more research into it before I come to my final conclusion, but at this point, on this particular issue, I have to agree with PETA (did I just say that?) Their approach to making their point is usually not very good, and I don't think you'll ever see fur coats and whatnot banned, but for christ's sake, is it too much to ask for the animals being raised for their fur to be raised and killed in a humane manner? And if the stuff on that site is true, that's not what's happening.

Damn, now I'm depressed.

Are you using the wide desktop on that Radeon 9600 in your sig? If so, I'm not sure how to get it to span the whole desktop. It's easy with the new nVidia drivers. I still keep a tall taskbar on the right screen though, as I use all the space I can get on the other screen for mapping.

Whoa... there were computers when you went to school?! :p
Only in the most primitive sense. :bawling:

My first experience with a "real" computer was in the 7th grade in 1971. You wrote your program on this device which "saved" it to a strip of yellow paper. To run it you fed the paper through a hole-punch reader which read it and printed out the results on a device which looked like a clunky typewriter. If the strip of paper tore (which was all too common) you were SOL and had to start over.... :wtf:

The school system I was in (Arlington, Co. VA) owned exactly one of these computers. They moved it from classroom to classroom throught the three High Schools and six Jr. High Schools. I think our class of 25 students had it for about a week.

I wrote a program to solve for prime numbers. The computer was so slow I did not get very far into finding primes before the machine was whisked away to another class, even though I stayed after school and spent my lunch hour trying to achieve a scientific breakthrough.

It remains to this day the one and only program I have ever written. ;D

PNG is only really efficient if it is used to store a pic with large areas of same color. Where lots of distinct tones or colors exist, it cannot compress well. So, a rainbow picture would not compress well, but a sky pic of blue with mostly white clouds would. Real good desktop puicture, thanks for sharing it.... :D

jpg is better for color intense and where in same pic there are many variants of colior and\or tone in any given sample area.

tiff is better for detail retention where picture is likely to be enlarged.
