Not really sure where this goes--

What exactly does the Disk Defragmenter do, compress files, move files, store them, i really have no clue.

Was just wondering what it was :scratch:

I would say all of the above. Its like cleaning your room.....when your done you know where everything is.

As you use your HDD certain files get fragmented, as the name suggests... A single file can be stored in hundreds of different locations on the same drive, so in order to open that file it has to find each fragment. That can slow the computer down naturally.
