Floppy for life!
Yes you need a floppy (sometimes a few) but if you laptop won't boot to floppy, go into the CMOS and change the boot order to
1. Floppy
2. CD
3. HDD

thanks for answer... but as more and more computers come without any floppy drive... is it really serious to continue to use floppy needs ?? just for BIOS one time in computer life maybe ??
Hope one day will be possible to do from any CD... as any DVD player already do, updating directly from a simple CD.

I replaced my floppy drive with USB flash drives. They're faster to boot into, thousands of times more space available, don't wear out nearly as quickly and are more reliable in terms of bit degredation.

what do you mean by USB flash drive ? where you connect it ? is it external HD on USB ? or is it USB key kind ?
Anyway, I do not see how to make a USB plug bootable form the computer start..
any clues please ?

The "USB Key" kind (they use flash, or non-volital solid state memory). Your BIOS needs to be able to support booting from a USB device for it to be possible. Most motherboard models made within the past couple of years support this, and if so it should be selectable from the boot order menu.

so mine is not... no USB selection in BIOS boot menu..
so just to change bios, I need to find floppy. .
Many thanks anyway for your help !!
