I have rebooted many times, downloaded the standalone installer, got all the windows updates, and done everything else on the macromedia troubleshooter list. The flash player just refuses to install on my friend's computer and/or show up in his programs list despite having it say "Installation complete!" every time I run setup. He has admin rights on the system, and I checked all IE settings to make sure it wasn't something blocking them.
not one word about it being a memory problem either... ;)
This (http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/remark,8049589~root=winme~start=-1~mode=flat) may help.
(hey, is that our Trinity? :) )
If not, maybe this (http://webforums.macromedia.com/macromediaplayers/messageview.cfm?catid=185&threadid=701595)

Those links pointed me in the right direction. After poking around a bit on the system, I found a program that wasn't listed on the add/remove program list called "AdGone" that was blocking Flash on one of its many submenus.
Thanks for the help, BDR! :D
Cool. Glad I could help. :)
