HD Monitor Question

My friend asked me about these, and I know nothing about LCD moniters.

"I just want the best picture."

The specs for the 24" Dell are :

and the specs for the 26" Samsung are:

Which one do you think will deliver the better picture? Do you think the
difference between the resolutions will be noticeable? what about the
difference in response times?


He will have an XFX 7600GT, X2 4200+, ASUS A8N-SLI, 2Mb OCZ platinum.

You didn't specify the resolution for the top one and the bottom one has a REALLY dodgy res. That's like super widescreen. Most these days are 1280x1024. That's longer and thinner than that which I can't see being a good thing to be honest.

First of all, the brightness, contrast and response time listed by mfgs are all lies.
No one will want to watch a screen at brightness over about 300, unless you are sitting a long ways back in a bright room. The optimal for a desk top is 200-250. The listed contrat is at the setting that give the highest contrast, not at default.
And the speed. It is listed at the fasted trasition, not the average of all possible or the slowest.
You need to find reviews where people took actual measurements. Tom's hardware does this when they look at monitors.

The 24" Dell's have a good reputation. Go and look at them in stores, take your own pictures/dvd to watch.
